Microsoft’s Xbox PC app now integrates Steam games and additional storefronts

Microsoft Expands Xbox App with New Game Integration

Microsoft has launched a significant update to its Xbox PC app on September 16, 2025, transforming it into a comprehensive launcher for PC games. The revised app now incorporates games from various storefronts such as Steam and Battle.net, enhancing user accessibility, reports 24brussels.

This update follows months of testing with Xbox Insiders, and is now accessible to all users of the Xbox PC app. The new features are designed not only for an upgraded Xbox experience on devices like the Xbox Ally but also to establish the app as a central hub for PC gaming.

“When you install a game from a supported PC storefront, it automatically appears in ‘My Library’ within the Xbox PC app, as well as the ‘Most Recent’ list of titles in the sidebar, so you can jump back into your favorite games with just a click,” explains Jason Beaumont, vice president of experiences at Xbox.

In addition to library integration, a new “My Apps” section is being introduced, streamlining access to third-party applications, including browsers and other gaming utilities. This feature aims to facilitate game launching from multiple sources, especially on handheld devices.

Furthermore, Microsoft plans to add cloud-playable games and a game history feature later this month, allowing users to sync their recent play history across Xbox consoles, PCs, and handheld devices. This follows the earlier rollout of similar features on Xbox consoles, enhancing user interaction with the gaming ecosystem.
