Hertz partners with Amazon to sell used cars in select US cities

Hertz Partners with Amazon to Sell Used Cars

Hertz has announced the launch of its used car sales on Amazon Autos, starting in four major U.S. cities: Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle. This marks the rental company’s first venture into online vehicle sales, with plans for more locations to follow, reports 24brussels.

The initiative allows customers within a 75-mile radius of the initial cities to browse Hertz’s pre-owned inventory on Amazon Autos starting as early as Wednesday. Hertz aims to expand this service to 45 locations nationwide, increasing accessibility to a broader range of options.

“Now you can conveniently shop our maintained-from-day-one vehicles on the online marketplace of – well – just about everything else,” Hertz stated. Customers can order a vehicle online and pick it up at their nearby Hertz Car Sales center within three days.

Amazon introduced its Autos business in December 2024, initially offering new and certified pre-owned vehicles. The inclusion of Hertz’s inventory represents a significant expansion of this service, which previously only featured select Hyundai models available for purchase directly on the platform.

Hertz’s new partnership with Amazon reflects a growing trend of car rental companies diversifying their business models amidst shifting consumer behaviors. The vehicle selection will include popular makes such as Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, and Nissan, catering to a broad audience of potential buyers.
