Apple Launches Updated Entry-Level Smartwatch: Apple Watch SE 3
Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch SE 3, its refreshed entry-level smartwatch for 2025. Featuring a faster S10 processor, improved battery life, and an always-on display, the new model starts at $249 for the 40mm version, with preorders available immediately and a launch date set for September 19, reports 24brussels. It will also be available in a 44mm size, offered in aluminum cases in midnight and starlight colors.
The new SE 3 model includes several upgraded features such as double-tap and wrist-flick gestures, sleep apnea detection, and enhanced charging speeds. The device supports 5G and boasts an impressive claimed battery life of 18 hours. Additionally, the front crystal of the watch utilizes Apple’s Ion-X glass, which is marketed as being twice as scratch-resistant as previous iterations.
This latest release follows the previous model, launched in 2022, which lacked an always-on display and several health sensors. The SE 3 addresses this gap by incorporating a temperature sensor, although it does not include EKG and blood oxygen sensors, which remain exclusive to higher-end models.
The device will ship with watchOS 26, introducing Apple’s Liquid Glass software design, along with a Workout Buddy feature that provides audible coaching during exercises, enhancing the overall user experience.
The Apple Watch SE 3 represents Apple’s strategy of offering a cost-effective smartwatch that still integrates key features found in higher-end models, making it an appealing option for consumers looking for essential smartwatch functionalities at a lower price point.
