Trump Calls for Firing of Microsoft Executive Lisa Monaco
Former President Donald Trump has targeted Microsoft’s head of global affairs, Lisa Monaco, calling for her dismissal, reports 24brussels.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump labeled Monaco “corrupt,” “deranged,” and “a menace to U.S. national security.” His main objection appears to stem from her prior role as the 39th Deputy Attorney General under President Biden, during which time she was associated with the federal prosecution against him led by Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Trump claims he has already revoked Monaco’s security clearances, expressing concern that her position at Microsoft grants her access to “Highly Sensitive Information.” Monaco only recently began her role at Microsoft in May 2025 and publicly announced her appointment last month.
It remains unclear why Trump chose this moment to publicly criticize Monaco, although media reports suggest he may have only just learned of her position at Microsoft. CNBC cited that Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo tweeted about Monaco’s new role just the night before.
Historically, Microsoft has maintained a favorable relationship with Trump, as CEO Satya Nadella has previously engaged with him. However, the company recently scaled back its cooperation with the Israeli military, which has been involved in controversial surveillance activities in Palestine, and faced internal dissent regarding its handling of employee protests related to these issues.
This escalation in Trump’s rhetoric towards Monaco reflects potential tensions as he continues to navigate his post-presidency influence among corporate executives, particularly those formerly associated with his administration.
