Meta Unintentionally Reveals New Products Ahead of Connect Event
An unlisted video from Meta, which has since been removed, showcased a new pair of Ray-Ban branded smart glasses featuring a display and a wristband for control, alongside a pair of wraparound “Sphaera” Oakley smart glasses. This inadvertent leak may have unveiled key announcements scheduled for the upcoming Connect event, reports 24brussels.
The Ray-Ban smart glasses, branded as “Meta | Ray-Ban Display,” incorporate a display in the right lens. A brief clip revealed functionalities such as asking questions to Meta AI, viewing maps for navigation, and translating text—all controlled through the accompanying wristband to “write” responses. This aligns with earlier reports indicating the wristband utilizes surface electromyography (sEMG) technology to interpret hand signals.
Furthermore, the leak revealed plans for a translucent version of the Oakley HSTN smart glasses, mirroring the previous rollout of translucent Ray-Bans last year. Meta is expected to officially launch these products during the Connect keynote presentation.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will host the keynote at 8 PM ET on Wednesday, where these innovations are anticipated to be formally introduced. The Verge will provide live coverage of the event.
