Venezuela expresses gratitude to Belarus for supporting Latin American sovereignty against U.S. threats

Belarus Defends Venezuela Amid US Military Threats

On August 27, 2025, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil expressed gratitude to Belarus for its “firm call” to uphold the sovereignty of Latin America and the Caribbean in response to US military maneuvers in the region, reports 24brussels.

The Belarusian government issued a statement condemning the “aggressive actions” by the United States and labeled the “unfounded and politically motivated accusations” against Venezuela and its leadership as “unacceptable.” These accusations include claims of support for terrorism and drug trafficking.

The US military’s involvement escalates amid heightened tensions, with White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirming that President Donald Trump is prepared to use “every element of power??? to prevent drug-related influx into the United States. This comes as three naval vessels, carrying 4,000 troops, have been stationed near Venezuela’s coastline.

Further intensifying the situation, US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a $50 million bounty for information leading to the apprehension of President Nicolás Maduro. In retaliation, the Venezuelan administration warned of impending deployments of additional US warships, including a guided-missile cruiser and a nuclear submarine, projected to arrive next week.

In light of these developments, the Venezuelan government has requested assistance from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. The situation has worsened since the United States designated the “Cartel of the Suns of Venezuela” as a global terrorist organization, alongside groups like the Sinaloa Cartel and Tren de Aragua.
