Rotten Tomatoes score: 10%

This horror film tells the story of a divorced woman (Elisabeth Shue) who moves with her daughter (Lawrence) to a rural town that’s haunted by a dark secret.

The New York Times’ Stephen Holden called the film, “A choppily edited, poorly timed mess with little continuity, overloaded with aural shocks in a desperate attempt to compensate for its minimal suspense.”

“Garden Party” follows a group of teenagers in LA whose lives intersect as they try to pursue their dreams. 

Kyle Smith of The New York Post wrote that it’s “a slow ride to nowhere.”

Reuniting after their turn in “Silver Linings Playbook,” Lawrence and Bradley Cooper play newlyweds who start a timber business in North Carolina in the 1920s.

“It’s an odd misfire from two actors at the peak of their game, but a misfire nonetheless,” wrote Alison Willmore for BuzzFeed News.

“Dark Phoenix,” the lowest-rated installment in the “X-Men” franchise, is based on a classic story arc in the comic series about mutant Jean Grey. Lawrence played Raven (aka Mystique), the shape-shifting mutant, for the fourth and final time in this movie.

“‘Dark Phoenix’ isn’t the worst ‘X-Men’ movie in the franchise, but it’s far from the best and that’s a big letdown,” wrote Kirsten Acuna for Business Insider.

Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Lawrence) are passengers on a spaceship of colonizers traveling to a distant planet. Awakened from their hibernation pods way ahead of schedule, they must figure out the reason for the pods’ malfunction before it’s too late. 

“‘Passengers’ takes what could have been an interesting debate about consent and glosses it over with cheesy romance and problematic sex,” wrote Refinery29’s Anne Cohen.

Through a nonlinear narrative, this drama focuses on the interconnected stories of strangers in Mexico and a southwestern border town in the US.

“Told as a labyrinthine tangle of intercut timelines and locations, it is a frustrating exercise in self-indulgence by writer-director Guillermo Arriaga,” wrote Roger Ebert.

Based on the novel of the same name by former CIA officer Jason Matthews, “Red Sparrow” is a thriller about a ballerina turned spy named Dominika Egorova (Lawrence).

Caryn James wrote for the BBC, “‘Red Sparrow’ sounds as if it has a foolproof recipe: sex, spies, and Russia. But the only way to make sense of this thudding, clichéd would-be thriller is to think of it as an unintentional comedy.”

In this “X-Men” sequel, it’s up to Mystique (Lawrence) and Professor X (James McAvoy) to assemble a team to fight the titular bad guy, the world’s first mutant, played by an unrecognizable Oscar Isaac.

“It’s basically a closing chapter to a feeble trilogy that started out pretty well and then ran out of gas, and now must serve as a prequel to shadowy X-related endeavors yet to come,” wrote Andrew O’Hehir for Salon.

Lawrence teams up with Leonardo DiCaprio in “Don’t Look Up” to play a pair of astronomers who discover a giant planet-killing comet that’s on a collision course with Earth. The only problem? No one seems to care.

“‘Don’t Look Up’ is a blunt instrument in lieu of a sharp razor, and while [director Adam] McKay may believe that we’re long past subtlety, it doesn’t mean that one man’s wake-up-sheeple howl into the abyss is funny, or insightful, or even watchable,” wrote Rolling Stone’s David Fear.

Lawrence earned an Oscar nomination and took home a Golden Globe for her portrayal of entrepreneur Joy Mangano, who invented the Miracle Mop.

“The movie’s a shambles, alternatingly agreeable and aggravating, held together by our interest in its heroine and by Lawrence’s tremendously sympathetic performance,” wrote Ty Burr for The Boston Globe.

Directed by and co-starring Jodie Foster, “The Beaver” is a drama about Walter, a depressed toy company executive (Mel Gibson), who works his way toward recovery by communicating with a beaver hand puppet. Lawrence plays the love interest of Walter’s son, Porter (Anton Yelchin).

Nicolas Rapold of Sight & Sound wrote, “Foster’s curious movie is at once a realization of the kind of ‘risky’ script that never gets made and an unwitting signifier of typical Hollywood contrivance.”

“The Poker House” centers on a teen named Agnes (Lawrence) who raises her two younger sisters at their mother’s brothel. Set in the 1970s, the movie was inspired by director Lori Petty’s own life. 

“While the film has strong moments and performances, it illustrates the dangers of overly personal filmmaking,” wrote Stephen Farber for the Associated Press (via The Hollywood Reporter).

In this psychological horror film starring Lawrence and Javier Bardem, uninvited guests disrupt a couple’s peaceful life. The less we say, the better.

“It doesn’t all work; long stretches, in fact, don’t play at all. But it’s formally impressive and deeply disturbing, and the mere fact that it exists at all is a testament to either [director Darren] Aronofsky’s salesmanship, Lawrence’s star power, or both,” wrote Jason Bailey for Flavorwire.

Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones star in this emotional movie about a British woman who falls in love with an American and overstays her student visa. Lawrence plays Samantha, a young woman who is also in love with Yelchin’s character.

The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw wrote, “Apart from everything else, ‘Like Crazy’ is a reminder of the awful fact that all choices are permanent, to some degree. Life cannot be rewound and done over. It’s a grown-up love story.”

The penultimate “Hunger Games” movie, adapted from the third book in Suzanne Collins’ best-selling dystopian trilogy, takes place in the subterranean District 13, where Katniss (Lawrence) must cooperate with President Coin (Julianne Moore) to save her friend Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and the nation of Panem as a whole. 

“‘Mockingjay, Part 1’ might be the least of the films so far, but in dissecting the typical blockbuster film, it’s staying true to that spirit,” wrote Emily St. James for Vox.

In the final installment of the “Hunger Games” film franchise, the conflict between the District 13 rebels and the Capitol’s oppressive leaders comes to a head.

The Verge’s Tasha Robinson wrote, “As wobbly as ‘Mockingjay — Part 2’ is, it’s powerful because its characters and conflicts have become so familiar in the culture, and because it completes a long and painful journey.”

In “No Hard Feelings,” Lawrence stars as Maddie, an Uber driver who’s desperate to earn enough money to keep her family home — desperate enough to take the “job” of dating a sheltered 19-year-old about to head off to college.

“This light pick-me-up of a flick is as eager to please as Lawrence is to show off her luminous physical comedy skills, elevated by the star’s fiery comic timing and effortless drollness,” wrote Tomris Laffly for The Wrap.

Based on the Ariana Harwicz novel of the same name, Lawrence and Robert Pattinson star as married couple Grace and Jackson, who have just moved to Montana from New York City and welcomed their first child. As Grace struggles with postpartum depression, the film spirals into a surrealist horror story.

“The definition of ‘movie star’ is pretty fluid, but in ‘Die My Love,’ it’s clear why Jennifer Lawrence is one,” wrote Bill Goodykoontz for The Arizona Republic.

Lawrence first brought Katniss to life on the big screen in “The Hunger Games.” The movie charts the heroine’s journey from her home in District 12 to the cut-throat arena of the eponymous competition. 

“It features a functioning creative imagination and lots of honest-to-goodness acting by its star, Jennifer Lawrence, who brings her usual toughness and emotional transparency to the archer-heroine Katniss,” wrote Amy Biancolli for SF Gate.

In “Causeway,” Lynsey (Lawrence), a soldier in the US Army Corps of Engineers, is forced to return home after a traumatic brain injury sustained from an explosion. While in rehab, she meets a kindred soul, James (Brian Tyree Henry), a mechanic.

Adam Graham of The Detroit News called the film a “quiet, low-key drama that doesn’t announce itself in any particular way, but has a way of sneaking up on you.”

Diving into the origins of the “X-Men” saga, “First Class” examines how and why Professor X (James McAvoy) trained a group of mutant superheroes, including Mystique (Lawrence) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender).

“Preaching mutant pride with endearing fervor, ‘X-Men: First Class’ proves to be a mutant in its own right — a zestfully radical departure from the latter spawn of a sputtering franchise,” wrote The Wall Street Journal’s Joe Morgenstern.

“Catching Fire,” the highest-rated “Hunger Games” movie by critics, is based on the second book in the series. Competing in the Quarter Quell, a deadly competition pitting previous Hunger Games victors against each other, Katniss (Lawrence) and Peeta (Hutcherson) form alliances with other competitors in the fight for survival. 

“This is ‘Empire Strikes Back’ stuff. It has that second ‘Star Wars’ movie’s kick of confidence,” wrote Grantland’s Wesley Morris.

In order to change history and save the world, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) must travel back in time to work with younger versions of his mutant friends.

“It is especially impressive that ‘Days of Future Past’ is a success; a film this gooey and complex, with such business-minded scope, should not feel like a real movie at all,” wrote The Atlantic’s David Sims.

When Pat (Bradley Cooper), a man with bipolar disorder, meets Tiffany (Lawrence), a young widow dealing with her own mental-health issues, the two help each other out and enter a dance competition.

The romantic dramedy was adapted from Matthew Quick’s novel, and it earned Lawrence her first Academy Award for best actress.

Entertainment Weekly’s Lisa Schwarzbaum called the film “a crazy beaut of a comedy that brims with generosity and manages to circumvent predictability at every turn.”

Based on a real FBI sting operation that took place in the 1970s and 1980s, “American Hustle” is a dark comedy about con artists (Christian Bale and Amy Adams) who are blackmailed into helping an agent (Cooper) with a New Jersey sting operation.

Lawrence, who plays the wife of Bale’s character, won a Golden Globe and earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in this film. 

“‘American Hustle’ is a movie built on that cornerstone of the American Dream, reinvention. If you’re not happy with who you are, or who people think you are, then go ahead and become somebody else. Anything to survive — and thrive,” wrote Steven Rea for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Ree Dolly (Lawrence), a resilient teen in the Ozarks of Missouri, must track down her absent father before her family’s home is repossessed.

Adapted from the novel of the same name, “Winter’s Bone” put Lawrence on the map as a talent to watch. She was nominated for her first Oscar and Golden Globe for her performance.

“[Director Debra] Granik has no taste for noir archness, opting for a chilly, shot-on-decaying-locations naturalism that feels as lived-in as Lawrence’s performance,” wrote the AV Club’s Keith Phipps.
