HMD launches Touch 4G, a feature phone with touchscreen and basic apps

HMD Global Unveils HMD Touch 4G Feature Phone in India

The HMD Touch 4G, a new feature phone with a touchscreen, has debuted in India, but it is unlikely to be available in the US market. The device merges characteristics of smartphones and feature phones with a touchscreen interface and video calling capabilities, reports 24brussels.

Launched on October 7, 2025, the Touch 4G is priced at ₹4,999 (approximately $55). Despite its appearance resembling that of a smartphone, its compact design features a 3.2-inch screen and weighs only 100 grams. However, this diminutive size comes with significant limitations.

Unlike most modern phones, the HMD Touch 4G does not operate on Android; it employs a custom operating system known as RTOS Touch. Consequently, it lacks access to standard Android applications. Instead, users can utilize the Cloud Phone Service, a platform catering to basic HMD browser applications. While the phone supports messaging options like group chats and video calls via the Express Chat app, it requires friends using smartphones to also install the application for complete functionality.

Additional features include a headphone jack and USB-C charging. However, with only 128MB of internal storage, users may find it necessary to purchase a microSD card to expand their storage capacity.

The emergence of specialized devices like the HMD Touch 4G comes amid an evolving mobile landscape, where the demand for simple yet functional devices continues to persist. This launch signals HMD Global’s strategy to cater to a segment of the market that seeks affordability while maintaining basic smartphone capabilities.

Nothing Ear 3 review: innovative earbuds with built-in microphone show mixed results

Nothing Launches Innovative Ear 3 Earbuds with Unique Super Mic Feature

Nothing has officially unveiled its latest flagship earbuds, the Ear 3, which notably feature an innovative microphone system integrated into the charging case aimed at enhancing the audio quality for calls and interactions. The new model, priced at $179, builds upon the company’s existing product line, bringing a blend of inventive design and improved functionality, reports 24brussels.

The Ear 3 earbuds strive to push the boundaries of personal audio technology, sporting a new directional microphone system branded as the “Super Mic.” This feature is specifically designed to improve clarity during calls, voice notes, and when interacting with AI assistants. Users reported mixed results during testing, with performance varying based on microphone positioning.

While the design of the Ear 3 closely mirrors that of the earlier Ear 1, the new earbuds promise a more robust audio experience. The Super Mic is triggered through a “TALK” button and can switch between the case and earbud microphones during calls, optimizing sound capture. However, for video calls in some default camera applications, compatibility issues were noted, complicating its use in frequent scenarios.

Users have highlighted variability in the Super Mic’s performance, at times providing sufficient quality for social media content and surprising clarity, while at other times not significantly surpassing the standard microphones embedded in the earbuds themselves.

Aside from audio enhancements, the Ear 3 boasts several quality-of-life features, including compatibility with multiple devices, customizable equalizer settings, and battery life comparable to its competitors—approximately five and a half hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) engaged, extending to ten hours without it.

The earbuds maintain an aesthetic signature consistent with Nothing’s previous offerings, presenting a clean design with integrated metal accents. While the overall improvements may not drastically separate the Ear 3 from its forerunners, the integration of the Super Mic highlights the company’s commitment to innovation in the audio technology sector.

Despite the advancements, some users remain cautious, suggesting that the new features may not provide enough incentive to opt for the Ear 3 over existing models. Nevertheless, anticipation builds for the next iteration, with expectations that future releases, such as a potential Ear 4, could incorporate further refinements, paving the way for enhanced audio experiences.
