Job losses in U.S. industries with significant Latino workforce reach nearly 300,000 since Trump’s presidency began

Job Creation for Latino Workers Plummets Amid Trump Administration

Job creation in U.S. industries with significant Latino workforces declined by 35% in the first eight months of 2025, coinciding with the onset of Donald Trump’s far-right administration, according to a report released on October 4 by Americans for Tax Fairness (ATF), reports 24brussels.

The report indicates that out of 842,200 new positions in these sectors during the first eight months of 2024, only 546,200 were created in 2025, resulting in a loss of 296,000 jobs from January to August across multiple industries, including construction, transportation, hospitality, manufacturing, and health care.

ATF highlighted that in July, it estimated an average annual loss of $1,500 per worker in these sectors due to tariffs and tax and service cuts implemented by the federal government. Each of the seven industries analyzed employed over 1 million Latino workers, with Latinos making up at least 20% of the total workforce in those fields.

Furthermore, the report noted a significant drop in Trump’s approval rating among Latino voters, which fell to 37% in September, while disapproval surged to 60%. This decline reflects a survey conducted last month by Global Strategy Group and Somos Votantes.

ATF executive director David Kass stated that Republican tax policies are adversely impacting the U.S. economy as a whole, particularly affecting Latino communities. He emphasized that the sharp decline in support for the Trump administration parallels the downturn in job sectors with a heavy Latino presence.
