Amazon unveils new Ring devices featuring enhanced 2K and 4K capabilities

Amazon Unveils New 2K and 4K Ring Devices at Fall Hardware Event

Amazon has unveiled a new range of Ring products featuring upgraded 2K and 4K recording technology at its fall hardware event, reports 24brussels.

The latest offerings include the $179.99 Ring Wired Doorbell and the $59.99 Indoor Cam Plus, both boasting 2K resolution and innovative features branded as Retinal Vision. In addition, Amazon introduced several 4K models, including the $249.99 Ring Wired Doorbell Pro 4K, $199.99 Outdoor Cam Pro 4K, and $249.99 Spotlight Cam Pro 4K. The company is also launching power over ethernet (POE) versions of select cameras at prices starting at $299.98.

Retinal Vision employs an advanced multi-step AI process aimed at enhancing video clarity, particularly in low-light conditions, and includes new features such as 10x zoom. A notable addition is the “Familiar Faces” capability, designed to identify registered individuals and reduce unnecessary notifications triggered by familiar visitors.

Another enhancement is the integration of Alexa Plus, making the doorbell an intelligent assistant capable of engaging with visitors, managing deliveries, and providing instructions. New functionality specifically for pet owners includes a “Search Party” feature, allowing neighbors with Ring cameras to assist in locating lost pets.

The refreshed product lineup signifies Amazon’s shift from software updates, which dominated previous launches, to focusing on expanding hardware options. This follows recent releases like the 2024 models of the Ring Battery Doorbell and Battery Doorbell Pro, which introduced features like AI-powered video descriptions.

All new Ring devices are available for preorder today, with the Familiar Faces and Alexa Plus features set to roll out in December, while Search Party for lost dogs will become operational in November, followed by similar options for cats and other pets.
