Logitech’s MX Master 4 introduces haptic feedback for enhanced user interaction

The $119.99 MX Master 4 wireless mouse from Logitech introduces new haptic feedback technology, enhancing user interaction through tactile responses as it prepares for its October launch, reports 24brussels.

Set to improve everyday computing tasks, the mouse features a Haptic Sense Panel on its thumb rest that vibrates upon activation, allowing users to access Logitech’s Action Ring overlay filled with customizable app and system shortcuts. This hardware innovation, however, requires significant engagement with Logitech’s Logi Options Plus software.

The haptic feedback punctuates all actions within Logitech’s applications, including gestures and pre-programmed Smart Actions, creating a more dynamic user experience. Notably, a haptic-enabled setting provides feedback when moving between screens, reducing disorientation regarding cursor location.

Visually, the MX Master 4 boasts frosted, semi-transparent buttons that add an element of sophistication. It includes a USB-C Bolt transmitter compatible with other Logitech devices, enhancing connectivity options. Logitech claims the mouse can function for up to 70 days on a full charge, though using high-intensity haptics may shorten its lifespan.

Other design changes include relocating the gesture button from the thumb grip to a separate button aligned with the thumb buttons, which allows for directional movements to execute specific actions. This shift enhances usability, especially for users who frequently navigate complex tasks.

Logitech promotes the Action Ring as a time-saving feature, simplifying tasks that typically require keyboard shortcuts or mouse clicks. Users can easily program actions such as launching applications or executing commands in third-party software like Affinity Photo, where the Action Ring appears contextually, displaying relevant commands to facilitate workflow.

The haptic sensations activated while navigating Action Rings add a tactile element that enhances user engagement. While the feature may not compel current MX Master 3S users to upgrade, the MX Master 4’s ergonomic design, refined scroll functionality, and quiet operation make it an appealing choice for newcomers to the series or those seeking an ergonomic computing solution.

Overall, the MX Master 4 wireless mouse stands out for its blend of comfort and cutting-edge technology, solidifying its place as a competitive accessory in the productivity landscape.
