The Pitt‘s Noah Wyle Wins Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Paging Dr. Robby to the Emmys stage: On Sunday night, Noah Wyle, who plays an ER doctor on The Pitt, won his first Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

“To anyone going on shift tonight or coming off shift tonight, thank you for doing that job,” Wyle said while accepting the award on Sunday night. “This one is for you.”

Later in the night, The Pitt won the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series.

In The Pitt, Wyle is running an emergency room while still still dealing with the trauma from the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Wyle previously earned five Emmy nominations playing an ER doctor on the show ER in the 1990s. He played a young doctor learning from a demanding mentor played by Eriq La Salle.

Now, in The Pitt, his character is mentoring other young doctors—so much so that the estate of ER creator Michael Crichton has called The Pitt an ER-spinoff.

Season 2 of The Pitt will premiere in January 2026.
