Apple unveils ultra-slim iPhone Air with advanced features

Apple Unveils Thinnest iPhone Yet, the iPhone Air

Apple has launched the iPhone Air, its thinnest smartphone to date, measuring a mere 5.6mm thick. CEO Tim Cook emphasized that this device promises “pro performance in a thin and light design,” reports 24brussels.

Weighing 165 grams (5.8 ounces), the iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch ProMotion display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a remarkable peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Apple claims that the new model is its “most durable” to date, showcasing a ceramic shield encapsulating a titanium frame on both sides.

The device is powered by an A19 Pro processor—Apple’s most advanced chip to date—and includes a new Apple-designed modem, the C1x, which offers double the speed of its predecessor. Additionally, the iPhone Air incorporates the new N1 chip design, providing support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity.

Despite its slim design, Apple assures an impressive “all-day” battery life, allowing for up to 27 hours of video playback, or 40 hours with the optional $99 iPhone Air MagSafe battery. To optimize battery efficiency, the iPhone Air exclusively supports eSIM technology, and an adaptive power mode in iOS 26 is expected to enhance device performance.

Equipped with a 48-megapixel “dual fusion” camera system and a 12MP telephoto lens, the iPhone Air presents a unique recording feature that allows simultaneous front and rear video capture. Its 18MP front camera supports Center Stage, a functionality also present in the standard iPhone 17, which automatically adjusts the frame to include everyone in a group photo.

The iPhone Air’s launch aligns with the upcoming release of iOS 26 on September 15. This updated operating system will introduce a new Liquid Glass design language, enhancing the look and feel of various navigational elements and icons.

The iPhone Air is available in four colors: black, white, beige, and light blue. Alongside this release, Apple has debuted several new accessories, including a MagSafe case and a reinforced polycarbonate bumper case designed for use with a new crossbody strap.

Starting at $999 for 256GB of storage, the iPhone Air is available for preorder on September 12, with general availability set for September 19.
