Brussels prepares for another large pro-Palestinian protest with expected turnout of 70,000

Brussels Hosts Major Pro-Palestinian Demonstration

The Belgian capital once again witnessed a large pro-Palestinian demonstration as thousands participated in the second “Red Line for Gaza” march. Organizers condemned what they termed the complicity of governments, institutions, and businesses in “the crimes of the Israeli regime.” Police estimated approximately 70,000 participants, reports 24brussels.

Demonstrators convened at Brussels North Station before marching toward Jean Rey Square, situated near EU institutions. Protesters were encouraged to carry red cards, symbolizing their demand for accountability from politicians and companies allegedly supporting war crimes.

The coalition organizing the event includes Vrede vzw and the National Coalition for Gaza. They called for a complete military embargo on Israel, the cessation of the arms trade, and a ban on any investments or partnerships that perpetuate the occupation. “The Belgian government must go beyond symbolic gestures and adopt concrete, comprehensive measures,” stated the Palestinian collective Beitna.

Over 200 organizations, including major NGOs, trade unions, Jewish and Palestinian associations, faith groups, and cultural organizations, backed the march. The previous demonstration attracted an estimated 100,000 participants.

Further updates on today’s protest will follow later.
