Ukraine’s Flamingo missile enhances strike capabilities against Russian targets

Ukraine Responds to Russian Threat Amid Missile Developments

TASS, the state-owned press agency, recently downplayed the threat posed by a new missile design, claiming it originates from a British firm—an assertion denied by Ukrainian officials—and attempting to undermine Ukraine’s technical capabilities, reports 24brussels.

Ukrainian military spokesperson Terekh disagrees with this narrative, arguing, “We watched Russian reaction to our first missions, and I can tell you the more successful the mission was, the more Russians tried to choke all publicity around it.” This statement reflects the escalating tensions and ongoing military operations between Ukraine and Russia.

The Flamingo missile system is now in serial production, with 211 units manufactured this month alone. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced, “By December, we will have many more of them,” during a press briefing, emphasizing the need for enhanced military capability while withholding further details about the weapon’s specifications until Ukraine can deploy “hundreds of them.”

In a significant shift, U.S. President Donald Trump has shown increased openness to Ukraine’s military response. In a Thursday social media post, he stated, “It is very hard, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking an invaders country. It’s like a great team in sports that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play offense.”

This development raises questions about the future dynamics of the conflict and the potential for Ukraine to expand its offensive operations as it seeks to fortify its defenses and assert its sovereignty amid ongoing hostilities.
