Czech minister rebukes Putin’s claims about Ukraine during Trump briefing

Intensifying Tensions: Russia’s Ongoing Assault on Ukraine Amid Diplomatic Efforts

As diplomatic talks unfold, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized to reporters that Ukraine poses “fundamental threats” to Russian security and underscored the necessity to “eliminate all the primary causes of the conflict,” reports 24brussels.

The Kremlin has continuously cited a series of “root causes” for the conflict, notably Ukraine’s potential NATO membership and unfounded allegations of a Nazi government in Kyiv.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump characterized the negotiations as “extremely productive,” though he conceded that no agreement was reached on a Ukraine deal with his Russian counterpart.

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský refrained from criticizing Trump, commending his efforts to end the conflict and his ongoing discussions with European leaders. “I welcome that President Trump is trying to stop the war,” Lipavský stated, expressing hope that Trump would share the outcomes of the negotiations with European officials, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In the meantime, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia continued its attacks on Ukraine in the hours leading up to the Alaska talks.

“If Putin were serious about negotiating peace, he would not have been attacking Ukraine all day today,” Lipavský remarked, highlighting the contradiction between Russia’s military actions and its diplomatic overtures.
