The Supreme Court on Friday dashed President Donald Trump’s plan to immediately fire the head of an independent agency that investigates whistleblower claims, allowing Hampton Dellinger to remain in the job through at least the middle of next week.

The Trump administration fired Hampton Dellinger, head of the Office of Special Counsel, who sued to overturn the decision.

The president’s actions attempt to enshrine “blatant discrimination as national policy,” the lead lawyer said.

President Trump and Maine Gov. Janet Mills clashed over Trump’s order banning transgender athletes from playing in girl and women sports.

The U.S. and Ukraine are near a deal to hand valuable mineral rights to the U.S., an agreement the Trump administration has sought as compensation for military aid to fight off Russia’s invasion, people familiar with the matter said.

Trump has been deeply critical of the Ukrainian president in recent days while offering friendlier words about his Russian counterpart.
