At least 10 people are dead and dozens injured in New Orleans after a driver plowed a car into a crowd of New Year’s revelers on Bourbon Street, police and city officials said.

So far, this winter has seen one of the warmest Decembers on record in much of the northern United States.

Sharing that he and friends noticed “a lot of commotion” at the end of Bourbon Street, Cothran said he ducked into the nightclub going up onto a balcony to see what had happened.

Ten people were killed and 30 injured after a vehicle drove into a crowd on New Orleans’ Canal and Bourbon Street on Wednesday, according to NOLA Ready, the city’s emergency preparedness agency.
